TROPFEST 2012 | SYDNEY AUSTRALIA

About two Saturdays ago, I went to my first Tropfest in Sydney's The Domain. Tropfest is the most prestigious short film festival in Australia, and the biggest short film festival in the world. Again, it was my first time to experience (I'm having lots of first experiences this year, like Big Day Out) one of the most iconic cultural events in Australia and had the chance to take some photos for Everguide. Every year more than 150 000 people go to Tropfest, in anticipation to watch all the new creative talent, whilst having a picnic in The Domain. This year being the 20th year of Tropfest, the turn out of guests and judges were the best of Australia, including Geoffrey Rush, Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette and too many more to list!

Unfortunately this year, the rained poured half way through the night and many left. Take a look at this year's finalists here! Some were funny, some were a bit serious and I think the winner, Lemonade Stand directed by Althea Jones had a little bit of both. Take a watch of the winning short film at the bottom of this post! I also had the opportunity to style and dress Scott Tweedie (host of Channel Eleven's The Loop and ABC's Prank Patrol), but will do a separate post for that.

MOOVE MPHONES MONUMENT | CIRCULAR QUAY

Today’s weather was probably one of the best summer weekends I’ve had! I met up with Janice(Chaigyaru) and went down to the Moove Monument erected at Circular Quay with Tyler Atkins hosting (winner of Amazing Race Australia). There was a real pair of huger than life headphones made fully out of over 40 000 Moove cartons pumping the summers best tunes. For those who were up for a challenge, there was also an interactive game – “Taste Invaders” where people tried to catch the most cartons with a butterfly net. It may sound easy, but after trying my hands at the game, it proved to be harder than I expected!

I hadn’t heard of much of Moove for a while besides drinking the chocolate and strawberry flavours at school, but now, they have come out with a new flavour! Caramel Fudge and must say, pretty yum!

Come down this weekend, taste the new Moove, place some games and have some fun dancing to the the summer tunes!

ULTIMATE FASHIONISTA: THE YOUNG HOLLYWOOD STYLE GUIDE | LAUNCH

Last week I was invited to the book launch of Ultimate Fashionista: The Young Hollywood Style Guide by Alana Wulff - the first book launch event I've been invited to. It was a fun night at Hunky Dory Social Club's rooftop, with lots of familiar faces, pizza eating, yummy Gelatissimo cones and being snapped by none other, Mitch from Life Without Andy. I compiled a little collage of his snaps and also shot I took of him too.

Ultimate Fashionista: The Young Hollywood Style Guide is the third book, that writer/editor, Alana, has published with Random House, in addition to her array of work in TV HITS, Girlfriend Magazine, OK!, Famous, Vice and plenty other publications. Having read some of the book, I think Alana has done quite a good job in giving an informative style profile of some of Hollywood's most stylish young stars along side great imagery. She also gives insight into the industry with some interviews of the current fashion's most successful in Australia and internationally, including editors, designers, publicists and photographers. The only cons about the book is that the main focus is on women and lacks men's style based content. Other than that, it's a cool book to grab and easy to read.

THOMAS SABO LAUNCH 2012

A few weeks ago, I went to the launch of Thomas Sabo's new collection held at The Polo Lounge. Lovely live jazz music played while we were presented with a mixture of different pieces seen through their ranges - Classic, Seasonal, Special Addition and Rebel At Heart for men. There were a few cool pieces that took inspiration from this year's Chinese New Year of The Dragon and also one of my particular favourites, the skull pieces. Look out for their new range in stores!

I saw Rochelle taking a look at the one of the Thomas Sabo cherry pieces and couldn't resist but to take a snap of her matching coloured lips!

MAZDA OPERA IN THE DOMAIN 2012

As you may have noticed, I haven't blogged that much lately. I've just been taking things easy and slowly getting back to writing up more posts as exciting things unravel.

Last month, I was invited to enjoy Mazda Opera in The Domain with my friend Riley. The work performed was "Les pêcheurs de perles" (which in English translates as The Pearl Fishers) by French composer Georges Bizet. Interestingly enough, I sang part of the work with the choir when I was in primary school. Definitely had some nostalgic moments. It was such a lovely evening relaxing and we also bumped into Stephen Mahly (Bob from Jersey Boys) and his partner and also rising actor Georgina Haig. There were also some amazing gelato that I must add - rose flavour was amazing!

Yes, some of you may think Opera are for old people, but I love classical music, having being classically trained when I was young in a few instruments. Wish I played more now though.
